Bright Eyes

Created by Richard 3 years ago

I was 7 years old when the film Watership Down came out. I can not remember how old I was when I saw Steven reading the book, and we had a conversation about Hazel and Fiver (the main characters) who were brothers. Steven was the main reason I read the book and I loved it. Soon after Steven passed away in March, I felt he was reaching out to me when the song 'Bright Eyes' from the film started playing on a friend's 70's music TV channel, and memories of that time came flooding back to me. It was as though he was telling me like Hazel in the story "don''t be sad", and reassuring me that everything would be ok. I felt Steven's spirit was telling me, like Hazel told his little brother Fiver, to accept he must leave his friends and no-longer-needed body behind, and that he must depart his own Watership Down. My Big Bruv - you will always live in my heart whenever I see your 'Bright Eyes' in my mind. Thank you for the times we shared together. I love you and will miss you. Richard. X
